Single-Sole Leather Shoe Crafting
Teighlor discovered her passion for leather working in 2012 when she taught herself how to make her first pair of traditional NE native American style moccasins. Since then she's explored the realms of leather craft as an art form. Creating her own patterns for skirts, tops, vests, jewelry, knife sheaths, gun hostlers, wrist cuffs, belts and utility belts, boots, slippers, baby moccasins and more. She began sharing the skill almost immediately, instructing friends on what she'd figured out over time and this progressed into holding more and more workshops over the years. Although she loves to paint, wildcraft, garden, sing and dance, leather work has been her favorite form of creative expression through making functional artwork. She calls it her funk-tional art from the heArt and sew'l and she is very excited about sharing the skill and art form of leather crafting with you!
~Teighlor's Single-Sole Leather Shoe Crafting workshop will instruct you on how to make your own personal pattern, how to work with hides to most efficiently use leather when cutting a pattern, how to use a hole puncher, how to hand stitch using both sinew and hand-cut leather cord, and, if you finish with time left to spare, how to personalize your new pair of shoes by adding beads, fringe, hand-cut leather feathers/leaves, fur, patches, etc.
~There will be a $20 materials fee unless you bring your own leather and leather cord. (You will need about 1.5 square feet of leather per foot). You are also welcome to join the workshop and learn how to make your own paper pattern for future use for free.
